Spartanburg Housing has provided a resource guide to connect individuals with local agencies for supportive services and programs beyond housing. The organizations listed below, located in Spartanburg and the surrounding communities, offer a range of services designed to help residents easily access the resources needed, promote independence, and ensure support is available to meet individual needs.


RENTAL /UTILITY ASSISTANCE

The Bethlehem Center
When funds are available, the department may provide emergency assistance for electrical, heating, and rental payments. To receive services, individuals must have photo ID, social security cards for all household members, and proof of residency.

Depending on funding, services are available to assist with paying utility bills and obtaining fuel and air conditioners. You must provide a current photo ID, social security cards for all household members, proof of gross household income, and proof of need or emergency.

Seasonally, GSM may be able to provide financial assistance to families for heating and cooling expenses.

Greer Relief and Resource Agency
An application and relevant documentation are required to access financial assistance. Applications are only accepted during service hours: Monday through Friday, 9-11AM, and Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 1:30-4PM. Financial assistance is limited to once per 12-month period and only for residents of Greer, Duncan, Lyman, Wellford, and Startex.

Helping Hands Ministries of Woodruff
Financial assistance for rent, utility bills, and life-sustaining prescription medications is offered (when funds are available) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10AM to 12PM. Assistance is limited to Woodruff School District 4 residents.

Limited emergency financial assistance is available to prevent utility disconnections for residents of Landrum/School District 1.

Piedmont Community Action
The General Emergency Assistance Program assists with emergency needs, including rental and utility bill assistance, via financial vouchers, medical prescriptions, referrals, and counseling on a case-by-case basis.

Salvation Army of Spartanburg
Financial assistance may be available for utilities and rent, depending on funding. Call to schedule an appointment for an interview with a caseworker, and provide your photo ID, income verifications, and late rent notice or disconnect letter, depending on your request.

TOTAL Ministries
Financial services are offered to help prevent the loss of utility services (electricity and water). You must provide a current photo ID, proof of income, the bill (the address must match the ID), and social security cards for all household members. People are eligible once per year, with a 5-time overall limit.

Angels Charge Ministry
Provides transitional housing for 12-18 months to help women after incarceration with successful reentry into society.

GoForth Recovery
A men's substance abuse disorder recovery program and residential transitional living home for alcoholics and drug addicts. Residents are admitted based on their willingness to commit to a minimum of six months in the residential recovery program. Project R.E.S.T
Provides temporary emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children for up to 60 days including food, clothing, transportation, daycare, and tutoring. Open 24 Hours.

Spartanburg Rescue Mission (Miracle Hill Ministries)
An emergency shelter that serves those experiencing homelessness, including men, women and mothers with children. Housed in separate dorm-style wings, individuals receive shelter, food and clothing along with counseling, educational opportunities and free medical help. Intake hours are 7am to 2pm.

Believer's Fellowship Assembly

The Bridge at Green Street
County residents can shop at the Food Market once a month with a valid ID on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9AM-12PM. The clothing warehouse is open for shopping once per week on Monday through Thursday from 9AM-12PM. Bring ID, proof of income, and a copy of utility bills.

Food assistance is available on the second Saturday of each month from 10AM to 12PM. Assistance will be picked up via drive-thru service.

Catholic Charities of South Carolina - Upstate Office
Services include a food/wellness pantry, clothing closet, Save-a-Smile denture program, & low-cost Immigration Legal Services. The food pantry is open Tuesday - Thursday from 9AM-1PM.

Church Builders Tabernacle
Free food, groceries, and other items are distributed to households facing a crisis. Several churches have partnered together for this program.

Greater Spartanburg Ministries
The food pantry is open Mondays and Thursdays at 9AM, accepting the first 50 people. Remember to bring SC ID and social security card for assistance. GSM also supplies gently used clothing to local families in need. Greer Community Ministries
Greer Community Ministries serves Spartanburg County residents living in Greer, Taylors, Duncan, Lyman, or Wellford. Food assistance is still available Monday-Friday from 9AM to 12:00PM. Helping Hands Ministries of Woodruff
Table food is available three days per week, Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 12:30PM. Food boxes are given out on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10AM to 12:30PM, with eligibility once every four weeks. The clothes closet is open on Wednesdays, 10 AM to 12PM. Assistance is limited to Woodruff School District 4 residents.

Hub City Farmer's Market
SNAP and EBT are accepted at both Saturday and Winter Farmer's Markets. Those receiving SNAP benefits can double their benefits up to $40 every week at the market and can receive $15 in for fruit and vegetables. Assistance with SNAP applications is also available via phone.

Liberty United Methodist Church

Middle Tyger Community Center
Curbside food pantry service is offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Thursdays from 1PM to 4PM

Senior Bible Study and lunch are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12PM. Salvation Army Social Services provides food and clothing assistance, and their Family Store offers gently used clothing and household goods at reduced costs.

Spartanburg Soup Kitchen

TOTAL Ministries
Food assistance is offered to people under 65 every three months and to people over 65 once a month. You must provide all household members a current photo ID and social security cards. They may also assist with obtaining birth certificates and covering the costs of life-sustaining medications.

Dial-A-Ride / Spartanburg Regional Transportation Services
Rides can be scheduled to reach health and human services, jobs, and destinations such as grocery stores and libraries. You must call to schedule a ride by 10:00 a.m. the day before. Medicaid may be used to pay for transportation to a medical appointment.
Call (864) 560-4118 to schedule a ride on weekdays 6:30AM-6:30PM. Fees vary from $3 to $8.50 each way, depending on the destination. Vehicles are accessible to people with disabilities.

Healthy Connections
Transportation is available for doctor appointments, dialysis, x-rays, lab work, drug store visits, and other medical appointments. Call at least 3 days before your appointment from 8AM-5PM. Legacy Transport Services
The public can use the facility for medical care, including shopping and errands to pick up prescriptions or groceries. It is available five days a week and sometimes on weekends. ReGenesis Community Health Center
ReGenesis patients may utilize free non-emergency transportation services to medical or specialist appointments and pharmacy visits. To be accommodated, 24-hour notice is required.

BirthMatters
Expectant mothers 25 years old and under can sign up for free doula support services that will be provided from pregnancy to birth and continue until the infant is 12 months old.

Provides free online training and certification programs in various career fields. All participants must be SNAP recipients.
