Member Spotlight: 2020 Affordable Housing Team of the Year - Archibald Rutledge Apartments.
Demonstrating exceptional partnership, the team at Archibald Rutledge Apartments/Spartanburg Housing Authority provides property management, service coordination, maintenance, and janitorial services for a 150-unit, 12-story high rise that is home to hundreds of elderly and disabled persons in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Together, they address problems as a team, collaborating on re-inspections, rent concerns, move-ins, housekeeping needs, and in recent months, they have risen to the challenge of keeping their residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To enrich the lives of their residents, the team maintains a full calendar of programs and activities to ensure that they can safely and comfortably age in place. Residents at Archibald Rutledge Apartments say they appreciate that the staff create an atmosphere of community and make time to celebrate life. The team plans birthday celebrations, holiday dinners, summer cookouts, lunch and learns, and National Night Out parties where they serve meals to the residents.
Whether there's an emergency, a celebration, a meeting, or just a normal day, the team at Archibald Rutledge Apartments work together cohesively to provide not only housing for the residents but services that make it a place where they can call home.
One nominator said, "It is quite something to develop a staff that works effectively with one another as a team. The staff at Archibald Rutledge Apartments has been able to do this. But more importantly, they are teaching residents that they can also be a team, working to help, love, and support one another in tandem with the staff."
Congratulations to the team at Archibald Rutledge Apartments including Property Manager Jill O'Connell, Assistant Property Manager Stephanie McDowell, Elderly and Disabled Service Coordinator Jayne Floyd, Maintenance Technicians John Prophett and Chris Cabell, and Custodian Emma Coleman. Way to go, Archibald Rutledge Apartments!
